Whole-food muesli in premium quality for a highly digestible and balanced diet for the old horse.
In most cases, feeding is a primary factor in maintaining good physical condition and vitality for the older horse. If older horses are fed according to their own needs, they can remain a reliable leisure partner for humans well into old age. But when exactly is a horse old or when does the aging process begin?
This question always has to be answered very individually, but there are often clear signs that indicate that the diet should now be adjusted. If a slow coat change occurs, rapid fatigue occurs, or the horse loses muscle and body mass, then it is time to change the feeding. This phase usually occurs between the ages of 16 and 20. Now a highly digestible energy and protein supply is necessary and the need for vitamins A, E, C as well as the trace elements zinc and selenium increases by twice the norm. This often leads to a deterioration in digestive capacity.
The high-quality whole food muesli Vitalmix Senior was designed precisely for these special nutritional needs of the horse. As a highly efficient source of energy and protein, Vitalmix Senior contains a special composition of hydrothermally digested corn, barley and oat flakes, which are produced according to food standards. This ensures optimal digestibility and the highest hygienic quality, which benefits the old horse's gastrointestinal tract. The special recipe of the whole food pellet not only contains digestion-optimizing alfalfa and pectins, but also supports digestion with brewer's yeast, mucilaginous flax expander and selected herbs. Diatomaceous earth and the essential fatty acids from linseed oil support skin and fur.
Vitalmix Senior also creates a highly available supply of organically bound trace elements such as zinc, copper, manganese and reliably covers the increased need for the antioxidant vitamins A, E and C. Particularly worth mentioning is the high dosage of vitamin E at 700 mg per kg . Vitamin E protects the cell membrane from damage caused by free radicals. In addition to vitamin E, selenium is also required for this functionality, which is also contained in the optimal dosage. Furthermore, Vitalmix Senior provides old horses with 2,000 mg of vitamin C per kg. In older horses, the body's own synthesis of this water-soluble vitamin often decreases, so supplementation is highly recommended. Vitamin C is partly responsible for blood clotting, maintaining the body's resistance to infections and other stress (stress) and can promote the development of tissue from cartilage, bones and skin.

Feeding recommendation:
Large horses: up to 2 kg per day
Small horses, ponies: up to 1 kg per day
From an amount of 400 g per 100 kg of body weight, the daily supply of minerals and vitamins is guaranteed. For smaller amounts of food, we recommend additional administration of LEXA Senior Mineral . Concomitant oral administration of macrolides should be avoided.
How to feed if the old horse is very easy to feed and needs little concentrated feed?
No problem, because our LEXA products can be ideally combined with each other. For particularly light-feeding horses, simply use a feed amount of 200 g of Vitalmix Senior per 100 kg of body weight and supplement our high-quality LEXA Senior mineral with a dosage of 10 g per 100 kg of body weight.
How to feed if the old horse has dental problems and can no longer chew and digest its hay properly?
In this case, we recommend that you also use soaked LEXA alfalfa cobs and/or LEXA hay cobs .
