High-quality all-round care for older, metabolically sensitive horses

Equine Cushing's Syndrome (ECS) is a hormonal disorder (in the pituitary gland) that occurs as the horse ages. Horses over the age of 15 often become sensitive to this hormonal disorder, but younger horses can also be affected. These horses often also develop deer sensitivity. These metabolic problems and the age of the horse require adapted feeding of these horses. It is often advisable to avoid readily available carbohydrates (grains, bran) and feed such as unmolassed beet pulp, hay beans, alfalfa and special protein preparations are recommended. Furthermore, a high-quality supply of minerals, vitamins, trace elements and amino acids is advisable to nutritionally support vitality and general well-being.

Minerals, vitamins, amino acids and trace elements are responsible for well-being, metabolism and the body's own immune defense. Old and sensitive horses in particular have a high need for these vital nutrients.

A high vitamin E content is important for good antioxidant support for sensitive cells. Since older horses' own synthesis of vitamin C and the B vitamins in the intestine can decrease, ATCOM ECS-VITAL contains required amounts of these important vital substances to support the entire metabolism, the immune system and digestion.
Furthermore, the administration of ATCOM ECS-Vital reduces the increased need for trace elements such as: B. Zinc secured. Zinc is involved in important processes in carbohydrate, protein and fat metabolism. Liver stress, as well as increased strain on the immune system and stress, also lead to an individual's increased need for zinc. Zinc is also responsible for the physiological growth of the hoof horn as well as for skin and hair. Older horses also have twice as high a daily requirement for this important trace element.

The particularly high-quality amino acids contained in ATCOM ECS-VITAL (5.0% lysine, 3.1% methionine, 0.3% cystine) improve the quality of protein supply, which can benefit the muscles, the quality of the horn and the entire immune system.

In addition, the lecithin and B vitamins contained in ATCOM ECS-VITAL support liver metabolism and carbohydrate metabolism. Lecithin is also said to have a promoting effect on the elasticity and moisture of the hoof horn.

In addition to a broad spectrum of all vital vitamins, minerals and trace elements that is specifically adapted to age and metabolic situation, ATCOM ECS-VITAL also contains yeast and bentonite-montmorillonite. The intestinal flora stabilizing effect of the yeast cultures is supplemented by the clay mineral bentonite. The variety of vital substances in ATCOM ECS-Vital is rounded off by intestinal and liver protection as well as prevention against toxins.

ATCOM ECS-Vital therefore offers a complete and targeted all-round supply with all vital nutrients and is particularly suitable for older, metabolically sensitive horses. The high-quality composition and nutrient composition is low in sugar and starch.

These special properties characterize ATCOM ECS-Vital:

  • Complete mineral feed in premium quality ensures in a highly available form the basic requirements of essential vital substances for the deer and/or metabolically sensitive horse and prevents nutritional deficiency symptoms
  • The active ingredients they contain are ideal for nutritional support for older horses with sensitive hormonal systems
  • The specially tailored active ingredients can improve the general condition and contribute to the horse's well-being
  • Free from molasses, grain components and glucose for optimal tolerability
  • only 0.2% sugar and 0.7% starch
  • Enriched with biotin and essential hoof nutrients (methionine, cystine, lecithin, zinc) for targeted support of the hoof horn
  • with organically bound copper, manganese, zinc and selenium
  • Liver protection and prevention of toxins through bentonite, B vitamins and lecithin
  • can make shedding easier
  • Special nutrients such as biotin, organic trace elements and diatomaceous earth can support skin function and skin metabolism
  • with the extra plus of vitamin E, organic magnesium and essential amino acids (5% lysine, 3.1% methionine, 0.3% cystine) to support the overall muscle metabolism and muscle building
  • The high-quality all-round care intensifies the color and shine of the hair coat
  • optimal selenium supply , as Germany is a selenium deficiency area

ATCOM ECS-Vital is ideal for:

  • for high-quality all-round care, specially tailored to feeding deer and/or metabolically sensitive horses as well as for older horses with sensitivity in the hormonal system

General tips for nutritional support for horses with ECS:

  • Required amounts of hay (possibly in combination with straw) approx. 1.5 to 2.0 kg of hay per 100 kg of body weight
  • If deer are sensitive, pay attention to the fructan and sugar content of the hay - if necessary, water the hay
  • Feed reduced sugar and starch (be careful with grains and concentrates)
  • sufficient supply of amino acids (via ECS-VITAL)
  • Sufficient supply of minerals, vitamins and trace elements (via ECS-VITAL)

Feeding recommendation:

20 g ATCOM ECS-VITAL per 100 kg of the horse's body weight per day.

During situations of increased need (e.g. fur change) or at the beginning of feeding an ATCOM product (this makes it easier to replenish potentially empty nutrient stores and meet the additional requirement), we recommend a dosage of 30 g ATCOM ECS-VITAL per 100 kg of body weight daily . This amount should be fed for a period of 4-6 weeks. You can then switch to the dosage of 20g/100kg body weight.

ATCOM ECS-VITAL UNPELLETED is an unpelleted supplementary feed. It must be mixed with the main feed in the specified quantities for each feeding.

Do I need to feed additional minerals or similar?

Feeding additional supplementary food can and should be avoided in order to avoid a nutrient imbalance or oversupply.

Note on feeding recommendations

Make sure you give enough of hygienically perfect food

groundbait. We recommend giving at least 1.5 – 2 kg of hay per 100 kg of body weight. Concomitant oral administration of macrolides should be avoided.
